General questions

  • Crucible Lusaka is open to applications from all Zambian students aged 15-18 who have completed their O Level Program / Grade 12. Watch our video to help guide you

  • Crucible Lusaka offers Advanced (A) Level education for students aged 15-18.

  • Yes, Crucible Lusaka is a girls’ and boys’ school.

  • Crucible Lusaka is a boarding school and all students will live at school during term time.

  • Our curriculum is designed to prepare you to become a pioneering leader, going beyond purely academic classes. We follow the Cambridge Assessment International Education Curriculum for Mathematics, Physics and Economics supplemented with an extensive curriculum in Liberal Arts, Leadership and Sports.

  • Classes run from February to December.

  • In our opening year, all students awarded a place at Crucible Lusaka will receive a founding scholarship of 100%, which covers school and boarding fees. Our aim is to ensure the best students have access to Crucible Lusaka.

  • In our first year we will welcome 30 exceptional students to join Crucible Lusaka. Over the following five years we will grow to an estimated 500 students.

The application process

  • Submit an online application here.

  • You can apply at any time to Crucible Lusaka. Applications are administered between February and November. Places are limited so we recommend early applications.

  • There are no application fees to be paid.

  • Crucible Lusaka accepts any certificate from a recognised awarding body such as the Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ), Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE). We also recognise secondary school mid year/mock examination results.

  • Once your application is submitted, our expert Admissions Office will contact you or your parent/guardian with next steps.

The admission/selection process

  • To apply to Crucible Lusaka, students must:

    • Be between 15 and 18 years old

    • Be a Zambian citizen

    • Have shown excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), with distinction first-class in Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

  • Crucible Lusaka conducts rigorous assessments including an aptitude test, project presentations and face-to-face interviews. Applicants must provide their Grade 12 results or certified midyear/mock exam results and all applicants to Crucible Lusaka must also take an Entrance Examination.

  • Assessment windows vary. You will be informed of a specific assessment date, as applicable, during the application process.

  • Your results must have shown excellence in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), with distinction first-class in Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Please visit our ‘Admissions Requirements’ page for full details.

  • At Crucible Lusaka we also value:

    • Award recipients; preferably in a science related subject or at a competition.

    • Members of school clubs or active in sports.

    • Holders of school leadership positions such as; school headboy/girl, prefects/counsellors, sports/team captain.

    • Other independent activities that demonstrate leadership

Academic and co-curricular activities

  • School holidays are in April, August and December.

  • We follow the southern hemisphere academic calendar.

  • All students will be provided with an official school uniform.

  • Students are offered a range of activities including sports alongside the opportunity to select and lead their own activities. We also welcome your ideas and suggestions.

  • Each intake will have 30 students selected from the best applicants across Zambia.

  • All Zambian citizens enrolled at Crucible are automatically awarded a 100% founders scholarship for the entire programme.
